IdentificationLarge ovoid female (17mmBL x 7mmW) and smaller narrower male (13mmBL x 4.5mmW). COLOUR black with covering of long pale grey scales on the head and antennae, thorax, wingcovers (elytrae) and legs; the scales form three broad stripes on each elytra, which were the basis of its name lineatus.

Interest NoteA nocturnal feeder on the leaves of Neinei (Fitchia speciosamore...) forming wide channels starting on the edge. Although rare, I have also found feeding grooves on the native Ixora and Macropiper. During the day they hide in the leaf litter and when disturbed on a leaf they fall to the ground. (GMcC. 2024-07)
